【摘要】:Sincethetwotendenciesareinseparableforametaltocorrodeandforwaterandthematerialsitcontainstopromoteorinhibitcorrosion,thecorrosivenessofamaterialorthecorrosivityofwatermustbedeterminedinrelative,ratherthanabsolute,terms.Thetendencyforamaterialtocorrodeisnormallydeterminedbymeasuringitsrateofcorrosionandcomparingitwiththecorrosionratesofothermaterialsinthesamewaterenvironment.Conversely,therelativecorrosivityofwatermaybedeterminedbycomparingthecorrosionrateofamaterialinthewaterwiththecorrosionratesofthesamematerialinotherwaters.Suchtestsareuseful,forexample,forevaluatingtheeffectsofcorrosioninhibitorsonthecorrosivityofwater.Althoughthistestmethodsisintendedtodeterminethecorrosivityofwater,itisequallyusefulfordeterminingcorrosivenessandcorrosionrateofmaterials.Examplesofsystemsinwhichthismethodmaybeusedincludebutarenotlimitedtoopenrecirculatingcoolingwaterandclosedchilledandhydronicheatingsystems.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthecorrosivityofwaterbyevaluatingpittingandbymeasuringtheweightlossofmetalspecimens.Pittingisaformoflocalizedcorrosion:weightlossisameasureoftheaveragecorrosionrate.Therateofcorrosionofametalimmersedinwaterisafunctionofthetendencyforthemetaltocorrodeandisalsoafunctionofthetendencyforwaterandthematerialsitcontainstopromote(orinhibit)corrosion.1.2Thetestmethodemploysflat,rectangular-shapedmetalcouponswhicharemountedonpipeplugsandexposedtothewaterflowinginmetalpipinginmunicipal,building,andindustrialwatersystemsusingasidestreamcorrosionspecimenrack.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard,otherunitsValuesgiveninparenthesisareforinformationonly.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
